It looks great on the counter, and is heavy enough to keep the knives safely (our knives are on the heavy side also, and well balanced). It's very high quality, and has more storage than we need (good for future additions). Highly recommended. This is a great knife block. I purchased it to expand our knife set with a set of steak knives.
It houses his knifes perfectly and is very attractive on the counter. I bought this for my husband for his birthday. He owns quite a few knifes,which are mostly Henckels.
The wood is beautiful and you can't beat the price. The lower slots can be used for steak knives or odd short utility knives. I love this knife storage block. I have a very long knife that I keep in the top slot which gives it more room in length. I highly recommend this block. There are so many slots of varying sizes and I am now able to store all of my odd shaped knives. The angle keeps the block a bit farther away from the wall than an upright one, but doesn't really take up too much extra space.
It looks great on our kitchen counter. The knife block set that we received as a gift did not have slots to include steak knives like this one has, which holds our collection plus a couple of slots for future additions.
So I did buy another cleaver to fit the slot. So my chefs knife, santoku, and 10" slicing knife wouldn't all fit, but I used a drill to widen one of the slots. It is also good to note that my cleaver doesn't fit in the cleaver slot, which will only hold a 3.5" width cleaver and mine was 4". I originally bought a knife block from TruBamboo that was falling apart out of the box so I took it back and ordered this. Overall a 5 star product, but I gave 4 stars since the picture isn't the exact product I received. However, I think it is important to note that the picture is slightly different from the actual product. The Henckels block is sturdy and well constructed, very solid. The design is basically the same, but the picture shows 4 larger slots, but the block I received only has two.
